Dreaming?

I have had this vision since we brought Zach home from the hospital - I walk into his room to get him out of bed and he is standing at the rail of the crib and says "Hi mom".

Zach was sitting in his bed playing while I rearranged his clothes in the drawers. I looked over at him and he had pulled himself up on his knees holding the bumper pad. Oh my gosh!!!

I called for Chris to come check out what Zach just figured out! We watched him and right before our eyes - he climbed into a standing position!!!!

After a moment he decided to walk across the bed - he let go--took one step--and fell over face first --all at the same time. It is now time to lower the mattress - Zach slept in the pack-n-play last night!

The World Around Me

Mmm.. peaches, where's Lucy, what's on the TV, Squeal/babble/laugh, now where did Lucy go, ok where's Smokey, bang on the highchair tray, ooh I found a cheerio, squeal/babble/laugh, now Sonny came in here - if I just move this way a little more I can really see him, what's on TV, bang on the highchair a little more - I like that sound, OH YEAH - MOM IS TRYING TO FEED ME MY BREAKFAST!

On The Go!

Well it is now official - Zach is definitely mobile! He has been scooting around in the living room for a couple of weeks now, but he never really got very far. Last night he decided to venture into the kitchen. Once he got in there, he realized that we were still in the living room and he cried for us to come get him. At least he won't go too far from my sight yet - (the separation anxiety would kill him) - But I am not fooling myself, we are in for it now!

Who Knew??

Riding the fuss bus for about a week, cough/congestion, waking up screaming in the middle of the night, random low-grade fever, several calls from the daycare = 1st Ear Infection. Who Knew?? Hindsight sure is 20/20!!

3 in the Morning??

Today I am awakened by the sound of my son's babbling/squealing/laughter . I look over at the clock (3:45am) and am sure it must be wrong. Zach is never awake before 6:00 (especially since daylight savings time messed with his little internal clock). I mean seriously - this is a direct descendant of Chris Urban (the sleep king). I decided I better check it out. He was playing in his crib with a caterpillar toy - speaking to it like it was a person. Surprisingly, he decided it must not be time to get up and stayed in his crib until 6am. I hope this isn't an indicator of how the weekend will go. I am used to getting my sleep!

MaMa

Okay - this morning Zach called me MaMa and I know he meant it. He was really upset that I didn't pick him right away and as I walked away - he called out to me! These are the moments that make parenting worth it!
