Gross
Chris was busy taking video of Zach screaming at us in the kitchen. Zach was in the front room, but couldn't get to us because of the baby gate. In the middle of his scream, he spits up. This video is amusing because as soon as it happens you can see Zach very confused and Chris didn't even see it happen until he found it on the floor!

The Deck Project Continued
Contrary to popular belief, our deck project is still not complete. We do not have stairs off the deck yet, because we need to have concrete poured first. We are going to pour a concrete landing from the deck to the driveway. That will give us a place for the trash cans, etc. Here is Chris' progress for getting the ground ready for the concrete.

The Day the Doors Were Closed
Since Zach started in a room with all walking toddlers this week, Chris and I thought Zach would be walking on his own by the end of the week.
Oh No- just two days of the new classroom and Zach is off. His teachers tell me that he can get from sitting to a standing position on his own. I haven't seen this - but he does a lot at school I don't see.
Monday evening we were at the softball fields so Zach didn't have much time to show us his new feat. Let me tell you about last night though - HE WAS EVERYWHERE - not really sure why each room is so different now that he can walk, it must be a new perspective. Anyway, yesterday was "The Day the Doors Were Closed".

Moving On Up
Today is Zach's last day in the Infant Room at Daycare. He will officially be moved into the Mobile Infant Room Monday morning.
This is Zach with Miss Patty. She is his only teacher that has been there since he started! Thank goodness for her.
No more swings and bouncer chairs. The highchairs are out too! What a big boy you are becoming!

Walking
It's official - Zach is now taking steps!
He will walk between Chris and I and he has started trying to walk randomly on his own.
The funny part is that he realizes what he is doing and gets really excited. Most of the time, this causes him to fall down. It really is amazing how difficult it is for them to learn to walk - he has been cruising for about 2 mths, you would think he could "just let go". The balancing act is much different when you are not holding anything.
We will try to get a video, but it could be awhile to capture it.

One Year
Wow - Diddle, I can't believe it has been a whole year already! (Then again, we have had such a great time together that I don't remember when you weren't here!) You are such a delightful little boy. Mommy and Daddy couldn't be any prouder of our little Zach!
You love to talk (your language, of course) to us and I know that you love us just as much as we love you! You have recently learned to give kisses - what a wonderful thing! Just yesterday you saw Daddy give me a kiss good-bye. You really thought that was cool and we all exchanged kisses together!
We thought for sure you would be walking by now - but I guess you decided to save that milestone for later. You are cruising around everything you can hold on to, but you just won't let go! You really like to push things around (anything you can push) and lately you really like your blocks. I just love to watch you put all of the blocks in the basket and then take them all out again. This keeps you entertained for quite awhile. I just bought you a toy box and you really like taking ALL of the toys out of it. Now we need to practice putting them back in too.
You are now eating big people food for all of your meals and you only drink milk (no more formula). You love to eat - when you see the highchair, I know you would climb right up on your own if you could! Right now, your favorite seems to be bananas. If we let you, you would probably eat three in one sitting. So far, there isn't much you don't like. I thought you wouldn't eat yogurt, but that changed. You aren't too excited by cheese, but you will eat it. Graham crackers are another favorite of yours. And, I can't believe it, but you still love Cheerios!
Here are the 1-year stats from your doctor appointment:
29" long (you moved up to the 40th percentile)
18 lbs. 3 oz. (still a skinny little squirt - 5th%tile)
46.5cm Head circumference (still a little big for your body)
You received two shots and did not like it AT ALL! I felt horrible when you screamed out - it was a scared/hurt scream. Don't worry Diddle, you were okay once I was able to hold you! Dr. Buffa says that you are doing wonderful - Keep it up!
I love you Zach,
Mommy

Bye Zach
This morning I waved good-bye to Zach from the door at school. He responded by sticking his finger up his nose.

Zach's Birthday Party
All of the pictures from Zach's birthday party have been posted at Flickr.
What a blast we had. It was so wonderful that everyone was able to come and support Zach. He was very confused when the house started filling with people, but he very quickly warmed up to the idea that everyone was there to give him attention.
Thank you so much for all of the wonderful gifts for Zach - I know he will love them all.
To those of you out-of-towners, we know you were here is spirit!
Also check out the new videos posted at You-Tube.

Today we tried to go to the zoo. G & Grandma didn't realize how busy it would be on a Saturday (right after the new baby elephant is born). We looked for parking for about 45 minutes (both zoo lots were full). Then we just decided to go back home and have a relaxing day. Mom and Dad will be back tomorrow!

Mom and Dad come back home! I am so excited I am confused! We had a wonderful reunion and G & Grandma had to leave Monday morning.
G & Grandma - Thank you so much for taking good care of me for Mommy & Daddy! I can't wait until our next adventure!

Today G & Grandma took me to Grant's Farm. We took a tour of Grant's home and saw a lot of animals really close up. A baby goat tried to eat my fingers and it really scared me (Grandma says I cried). We saw a show about birds and I clapped at the end with everyone else. I also got close up to a snake in honor of Andy & Abby. We saw the Clydesdales and had our picture taken with one named Sam. G & Grandma took me on a Train ride too. What a great day!
