This was our first overnight away from Owen (except him staying with Nana & G in Dubuque, but we were right around the corner). Look how happy he was to see that Mom and Dad were back home!

Anniversary Weekend
For our 6th Wedding Anniversary - Chris and I headed out to Quincy, IL. I know there isn't much there, but were just looking to get away and not go too far or spend too much $. Once we knew the boys were in good hands with Nana & G, we left town.
We spent a good amount of time in Hannibal, MO - just over the river from Quincy. We climbed the hill, but not all the way to the lighthouse.... Hats off to those that have made the entire climb!
At the point on the hill where we stopped is the remains of the Old Mark Twain Memorial Bridge. Pretty cool!
We toured Tom Sawyer's Boyhood home and a few other buildings (some parts were closed for renovations). We were even lucky enough to spot Mark Twain, Tom Sawyer, and Becky Thatcher!

Time for a Bath
Owen Walks
Owen is now 10 months old! He went to the dr. Tuesday for a checkup (a little behind) and here are his stats:
18lbs. 4oz (between percentile 5 and 10)
28 1/4 inches (between percentile 10 and 25)
45 1/2 Head circumference (between percentile 25 and 50)
He is growing just fine and is healthy. The Dr. also told us he is cutting all four top teeth right now (Ouch!). But even better than that - HE IS WALKING!! (At least starting to) Check it out!
Look how happy he is that you got to see him taking steps (the soaked baby is due to the teething, Yucky) -
Not only is Owen figuring out how to walk, he is quite the climber these days. He can now pull himself up on Zach's bed and get back down without falling. He has a habit of climbing the baby gate and then getting his little toes stuck in it. He likes to try and get into Zach's chair. He pretty much will climb on anything that is the right height for him. Watch out Mom and Dad - Here he comes......

Haircut Time
Time for Zach to get another haircut. He did a little better this time - a little less crying. But he still cried.
Dad gets his haircut first, then Zach. When they were done, Chris decided to bring Zach into the shower with him to rinse off the hair. Zach has never been in the shower before. Let's just say it didn't go very well. I could hear him screaming from the bathroom "No dad, I want to take a bath" One day he is going to prefer a shower......

Day 2 at the Festival
Chris, Zach and I went back to get some wooden letters that I saw the day before. I will have to get a picture of them. I already hung Owen's in his bedroom! This is Zach waiting for mom to pick out her letters. I think he was done!!
Oh yeah - we also went back because we ate all of Alecia's kettle corn the night before and had to replace it ; )

Festival of The Little Hills
This weekend was the Festival of The Little Hills at Frontier Park in St. Charles. I knew it would be crowded, but we decided to give it a go. I was worried when we arrived and couldn't get a parking spot closer than 4 blocks away. We finally found one and made our way to Main street.
There were so many booths, we couldn't possibly see it all. We walked around for awhile, got some food and Alecia got some kettle corn. Zach spotted the swings for the kids and really wanted to go on them. Chris and I were reluctant - Zach is usually a scaredy-cat at these types of things. And he doesn't really care much for the swings at the playground. But, we gave in - AND HE LOVED IT!!
Chris took Zach down near the river - Zach has been talking about the Muddy River ever since.
Had enough sun - ready to go home! (How did Alecia avoid the camera??)
