Teeth

Has anyone ever tried to get a picture of a baby's teeth? Chris was very persistent.

More Deck Building

This weekend Uncle Andy came down to visit and help with the deck. Of course Zach was sleeping when Andy arrived, but he was sure to wake everyone early Saturday morning. Then the work began!

9 Month Check-up

Zach had his 9 month check-up today - luckily he only needed one shot this time. Here is an update on Zach at 9 months old:

-Zach weighs 16 3/4lbs. He is 27 1/4" long. His head circumference is 45 1/2cm. (Weight 5th %, Length 10%, HC 50% of his peers) - What exactly does this mean?? According to the pediatrician, Zach is just genetically set up to be small. (Also according to Dr. Buffa, his head is a bit big for his body - which means he is very top heavy. Her advice is to close the bathroom door so he doesn't tip into the toilet and can't pull his heavy head out.)

-Zach loves to babble - he uses multiple syllables and says MaMa and DaDa regularly.

-Zach is able to pull himself to a standing position while holding onto something. He is just starting to "cruise" the furniture. Usually though, he will just sit back down, move, then stand back up in the new location.

-He is using the Pincer grasp alot and he passes toys from one hand to the other (putting on/taking off shirts)

-He loves to bang items together and on the floor - The more noise, the better Zach likes it. He also likes to push every button on his toys (he is learning that the buttons make the sounds)

-Zach is crawling very well - he actually has some speed now and he just gets so proud of himself when he gets all the way across the room!

-Zach responds to his name and understands "No" and "Come Here".

-He is learning to drink from a sippy cup and he loves to eat table food. He screams at us to share if we are eating something in front of him. Zach just started on School Food this week at daycare.

Happy Father's Day

Happy 1st Father's Day Chris - you are the greatest daddy Zach could ask for!

For Father's Day, we made the trek to St. James, MO to visit PopPop in the nursing home. Pop was having such a fabulous day that we decided to take him out to dinner with the family! Zach was such a good boy - he enjoyed being held by my aunts, ate his dinner like a big boy, and handled the car ride to and from. (It's hard to see, but I am the only one in the family shot that doesn't have blue eyes!)

Morning Routine

Every morning when Zach wakes up, I change his diaper and clothes, he has his morning bottle, then he plays in the pack-n-play while I finish getting ready for work. I usually put the Disney Channel on for him in the background (though he doesn't usually watch it).

I came in this morning and he was entranced by the HigglyTown Heroes. As I was putting him in the carseat - The cartoon characters were all saying "Bye" to each other. Zach's face lit up and he said "Ba". He was talking to the heroes! Then I said "Bye" - he gave me the funniest look and went back into his babbles. ( I guess I am not as interesting as the Heroes)

Highchair Cleaning

It was Chris' turn to get Zach out of the highchair and clean-up. I look over and he is shaking Zach over the floor - Chicken, cheerios and rice fall on the floor. He then tips the highchair and gives it a shake - once again Chicken, Rice, and cheerios fall to the floor. The next step was to call the dogs into the room! It worked, they cleaned up the floor and the highchair and Zach were clean too. (Of course, this only works with "non-messy" foods)

Scooting

I believe this may be the next step towards walking. Zach just loves to scoot his toys across the room while up on his knees.

Oops

What happens when the hose is left on for two days and it has a sprayer attached to the end?

It bursts and floods the yard!!!

Deck Day

Today my dad, Uncle Bobby, and Aunt Jenny came over to help with the deck. The plan was to get the pier holes dug and the concrete piers set. Unbelievable, we actually got it done! (Or maybe I should say the guys got it done) Hooray - hopefully the deck will be done sooner than later.

Deck Pictures

The pictures of the concrete piers were pretty boring - so I tried to take some "Kate-like" photos. Can you tell I was trying to be creative?

We Are Back

What happened to the Urban family over the past week?
The company I work for had their Year-End Audit - needless to say we were very busy this past week. Luckily, when I came home from work tired - Zach was tired too. He slept a lot the past week and weekend! I can tell he grew too! (So Grandma and Grandpa and Aunt Kelly - Zach was not trying to ignore you guys over the weekend by napping constantly - he was growing and needed his sleep)

Grandma & Grandpa Urban

Over the first weekend in June, Grandma and Grandpa Urban came for a visit. Aunt Kelly came too. Zach had lots of fun watching the guys take down our old deck. Grandma and Grandpa brought him a new hammer so he could help work - though he liked playing more. We didn't get any pictures with Grandma & Grandpa this visit (I hope Grandma and Kelly got some good shots they can share with us). We did get some shots of the deck demolition though.
